Energy Case Study

Over 4,800 windows in the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building in Cleveland, OH have been retrofitted with an interior insulating add-on window product to increase energy efficiency. The added interior insulating windows, an alternative to total window replacement, work with the building's existing windows to create a dual barrier against the elements. The added pane of glass resulted in a first-year energy savings of $204,000. Maine Glass was the contractor on the $1.2 million project.

Another building, the Patrick V. McNamara building in Detroit, MI was originally scheduled for a $7.6 million air handling retrofit, but after working with Maine Glass they were able to reduce the cost of the retrofit by $6 million and save them 1.6 million dollars upfront while still enjoying increased energy savings in the long term. Maine Glass’s Secondary Glazing System worked perfectly with the existing windows to solve the building’s energy needs.

The Buckhead center in Atlanta, GA was also faced with high utility bills and air infiltration that was becoming unacceptable to clients. Kristina Keuhn, director of Property Management for Wilson & Nolan needed to find a solution that would combine cost effectiveness, minimal tenant disruption, and proven results. Maine Glass was able to help Kristina find a solution to all these problems. "The disruption was minimal and the interior storm windows cost less, looked great, are very clean and fresh looking, and the energy savings have been huge." Sometimes our Interior Insulating Windows are also known as Secondary Glazing or Window Inserts or Interior Storm Windows.
